January Favorites

Each month is a chapter of our lives, and each chapter of our book is different. Every month, I find myself in a rhythm of gravitating towards a handful of things often. Here is a condensed list of a few of this months items.

1. Rice-cake snacks

This item is pretty niche, but I think most of you know exactly what I'm talking about. First off, this snack is so inexpensive- aka, perfect for college students. My favorite toppings on rice cakes currently are peanut butter, sliced banana and dark chocolate chips. I have seen lots of these online, toppings such as hard-boiled eggs, avocado, yogurt and hummus. For me, I eat this for breakfast so I like something a little sweet and I love a good banana. I have been also planning on snagging some chia seeds from the dining hall to top the bananas with.

2. Vinegar

This one may seem kinda odd, but just trust me. You can get a gallon of vinegar (cleaning distilled) for like 5 bucks and you can use it for so many things. You can put it in your laundry to remove odor, stick it in your dishwasher for extra shine, and even distill your coffee maker with it. And I know what you're gonna say, "Rachel, the smell is awful who would use vinegar?" When you use vinegar for your laundry or dishes, the smell goes away. It leaves your items smelling completely odorless. Additionally, I use it along with my dish soap and laundry detergent- not by itself. Vinegar is an amazing natural, chemical-free cleaner that is very inexpensive. Give it a try... for me!

3. Youtube

I work tons of morning, and there's not to many great shows out there right now (if you have any reccomendations please tell me!), so what I have been loving is watching Youtube videos while I get ready. I really like lifestyle videos, especially Allison and Lauryn Willkomm. I like doing some daydreaming when I watch them and I love the way they format ad film their videos. I know that plenty of people watch Youtube, especially while getting ready, and I may be late for the excitement, but I still absolutely love it and treasure my mornings that much more because of it.

4. Books

I am not a very proactive reader, but I have been trying to improve since the start of this year. I have already finished a book, so I think thats a little impressive. I approach reading much like people getting into fitness do. I tell myself I have to read at least one chapter per day. Sometimes it's more, and sometimes I miss a day. But I still continue to have this goal and it has improved my confidence and vocabulary.

5. Bubly

Everyone is going to make fun of me, especially my boyfriend, but I love carbonated water. It fills my Dr. Pepper craving, and makes me closer to my water-drinking goals. I love drinks such as Kombucha, smoothies, and espcially coffee. My Bubly's (aka the cheapest one at my local Walmart) are a less expensive subsitute for those cravings. I know it's not for everyoen, but I really love it!
